Energy Psychology for Phobia Treatment and more in Springfield, VA

For centuries, acupuncture has been used to help and heal people by moving the natural energy in your body. Energy psychology is similar to acupuncture, but no needles are used. It's similar to acupressure; by using gentle tapping and hand movement techniques, remarkable results can be achieved. At Essential Health & Hypnosis LLC, clients are taught energy psychology movements, specifically Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), so that they can easily do the techniques at home, in the office, or on vacation!

EFT is relatively straightforward to learn and usually results in a huge range of benefits for those who take the time to use and master them. One interesting finding, you don't need to believe in EFT for it to work -- it just works if you use it.

EFT can help:

  • Reduce negative emotions, such as trauma, anger, or grief
  • Help motivate and implement goals
  • Significantly reduce pain and overcoming fears and phobias

How does energy psychology work?

Energy psychology (EP) is a collection of mind-body approaches for understanding and improving human functioning. By focusing on the link between thoughts, emotions, sensations, and behaviors, and known bioenergy systems (such as meridians and the biofield), EP methods can resolve long standing issues.

We now understand that the mind and body are interwoven and interactive within the mind-body-energy system, which involves complex communication involving neurobiological processes, innate electrophysiology, psychoneuroimmunology (PNI), consciousness, and cognitive-behavioral-emotional patterns. For example, if you have ever witnessed a traumatic event, often the brain will send out chemicals and signals to body to release some of the negative energy (vomiting, fainting, violent shaking, etc.). If not resolved, some people live with (and often relive) the trauma for many years. This often results in poor health and/or poor relationships.

The use of EP has resulted in the development of associated methods and models to treat psychological and emotional problems, facilitate health and wellbeing, and improve human performance. These models and methods are usually used within an integrative or holistic approach to practices such as psychotherapy, counseling, coaching, integrative medicine, and other healing modalities.

EP methods integrate concepts and techniques from related fields (acupuncture meridian theory, neuroscience, physics/quantum mechanics, biology, medicine, chiropractic, and psychology) to bring about positive change. Additionally, through research and clinical studies, EP methods have been further developed and refined.

"The techniques of EP have provided me with invaluable tools for working with trauma.
No therapist can afford to remain ignorant of this new and exciting field."

Nathaniel Branden, PhD, author, The Six Pillars of Self-Esteem

"These treatments eliminated the chronic anxiety that I have had throughout my adult life, and allowed me to recover an emotional clarity and simplicity of emotional experience that I possessed as a child. I consider this experience on the miraculous level - both the elimination of the anxiety and the cognitive experience."

"I was skeptical when my executive coach taught me EP techniques.
But now I use them all the time to reduce my stress and improve my ability to function at work."

I invite you to review the published report by the National Institutes of Health . Below are some excerpts: "Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is an evidence-based self-help therapeutic method and over 100 studies demonstrate its efficacy. A current research bibliography lists more than 100 studies published in peer-reviewed journals. Its efficacy extends across a wide sample of populations, including college students, veterans, pain patients, overweight individuals, hospital patients, athletes, health care workers, gifted students, chemotherapy patients, and phobia sufferers. When measured against the standards of the American Psychological Association's Division 12 Task Force on Empirically Validated Treatments, EFT is found to be an "evidence-based" practice for anxiety, depression, phobias, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)."

In 2017, the US Veterans Admission approved EFT as 'generally safe' and a recommended treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO HEAL

EFT has helped resolve the guilt, anger, shame, and sadness for recent day veterans, as well as veterans from the Korean War time frame. EFT has been used to help children and women who were beaten, abused, and assaulted in war-torn countries with positive outcomes. If you have bad memories or experiences, great or small, from years ago or from today, EFT can calmly and peacefully help.

What clients say:

"I grew up in a house of horrors. To cope with the flashbacks, I drank. Now when something gets triggered I am able to calm myself down by using these techniques at home, and as soon as I can, I go into my therapist's office to totally clear out the traumatic memory. It is a God-send."
